With the implementation of the GDPR in Europe, data is the topic of the day and workers everywhere have developed an increased awareness of their data rights. This has resulted in greater pressure on businesses all over the world in terms of how they handle their staff data.

In this webinar we will look at managing staff data in Hong Kong with a focus on the legal framework, obligations and challenges faced by businesses, as well as the implications of the GDPR in Hong Kong. In particular, we will look at the following issues:

•The obligations in respect of data access and correction requests, data security, and the retention and transfer of data.
•The penalties for failure to comply with the various data protection obligations.
•The implications of the GDPR for Hong Kong employers and the circumstances in which they will need to comply with the GDPR.

The webinar is led by Pattie Walsh (Co-Head of our Asia-Pac Employment Practice) and is also presented by Clarice Yue (Commercial Counsel, Hong Kong) and Sarah Blennerhassett (Registered Foreign Lawyer, Hong Kong).
